…and this is what I do.

I've enjoyed being a full-time musician in recent years but as many of my rescheduled dates for 2020 are being rescheduled again for 2021 it seems unlikely that I'll be enjoying any regular income from music for the remainder of this year. As such I'm looking for opportunities to keep my creative mind active (and to pay some bills!) until 'normality' returns (whenever that may be).

Nothing is off the agenda, it just needs to be something that inspires and interests me that I can feel I'm making a worthwhile contribution to.

I’ve always been involved in music but alongside that I’ve also had an extremely successful career in the creative/marketing/advertising industry. So, for those that don’t know me (and indeed those that do) here’s some stuff about me both in brief and in detail.

Born in 1962 I guess I'm a classic product of a 70's teenager. Family life growing up was great and holds many fond memories. I did OK at school. I learnt to play bass, joined a band but never quite made the big time. Got myself a Marketing apprenticeship at Vauxhall Motors. Left to join a creative agency, became a Director, left to set up my own agency. Ran the biggest creative agency in Bedfordshire and the Home Counties.

Got married (still married after 30+ years!), had two amazing children who are now grown up and make me very proud.

Finished with agency life and took over a music venue for a couple of years. Did some consultancy work.

Joined T.Rextasy - the worlds only official tribute to Marc Bolan and T.Rex. Been living the dream ever since.

I’ve been actively involved in marketing since leaving school and entering a Marketing Apprenticeship with Vauxhall Motors coupled with a Business Studies course. I then went on to join London W1 agency the Broadway Communications Group where a fast track career progression made me the youngest Board Director at just 25 years of age. I later left to start my own Agency building a business that, at its peak, employed over 120 people with a turnover in excess of £12m. During that time I helped build, shape and communicate some of Europe’s biggest brands which included General Motors (Vauxhall, Saab, Chevrolet), Whitbread, Orange, BAA, Reuters, Center Parcs and Gala Coral to name just a few. Along the way we collected more than a cabinet full of industry awards in recognition of our exceptional work. Following the closure of my agency I indulged my passion for live music by running a music venue for a couple of years whilst continuing to manage on a small scale a number of creative clients delivering strategy, campaigns and collateral. I now balance a full time music career with the odd freelance creative project.

So, there you have it, me in a nutshell (well, a blog post). Please feel free to share. If you, or anyone you may know, is interested in chatting about opportunities please make contact. And as I mentioned earlier, nothing is off the agenda, I'm not necessarily looking to re-kindle my marketing career, I'm just looking for something that inspires and interests me that I can feel I'm making a worthwhile contribution to. If that combines my passion for music and creativity then happy days!
